UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga in collaboration with the Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum (FPTVI) held Indonesian Vocational Olympiad 3.0 (OLIVIA). Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA) 2018 is an applied science competition aimed to present the skills and abilities of students in the field of vocational education in accordance with their respective knowledge. In addition, the Olympiad was also held to exchange information between vocational students throughout Indonesia.
In its third year of implementation, the Indonesian Vocational Olympiad organized seven individual and group competitions such as English Debate, Business Plan, LKTI, Vlog Competition, Live Cooking, Smart Devices and Embedded Systems and Web Design. Themed “Acknowledge Your Entrepreneurial Potential, Build Indonesia”, the annual Olympiad forum for Indonesian vocational institutions is expected to be able to produce professional vocational graduates and entrepreneurs to develop the country’s economy in the future.
“Have a great competition to all my children with high sportsmanship in the field of competition you follow. Although UNAIR is the host, it cannot intervene the judging. Anyone who wins, God willing, was from their achievement and deserves the title, “said Vice Dean I of Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari, M.Si in her speech at OLIVIA 2018 final.
“Thank you for all contingentd of Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum. Also to the Faculty of Vocational Studies young lecturers who support this activity, because young people are the one currently working, ” she said.
The Indonesian Vocational Olympiad this time is aimed at vocational students from all universities who are members of Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum (FPTVI) and non-FPTVI members. Registration was opened from 6 July – 28 September 2018. The final of the competitions was held on 18 October at Airlangga Convention Center Building Campus C UNAIR. The announcement of the winner will be made on October 19, 2018 at the same place. The Head of the FPTVI Dr. Ir. Arief Darjanto, M.Ec. from the Bogor Agricultural Institute was also present in the event.
Since it was first held in 2016. Indonesian Vocational Olympiad has changed its name three times. In the first year, it was named 2016 National Vocational Scientific Olympiad (OIVN) and held in University of Indonesia, the second year was named Indonesian Vocational Students Applied Science Olympiad (OLINAMATION) 2017 at the Bogor Agricultural Institute, and finally became the 2018 Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA) at Universitas Airlangga. OLIVIA’s name was later patented as the name of vocational olympiad for the following years in 5th Congress of Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum.
