UNAIR NEWS – Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center secara resmi digelar Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) secara daring. Kegiatan yang bertajuk ??? ???? ?? ?????? ????????? ??????????? ?? ??????? ???? dilaksanakan pada Selasa (8/3/2022).

UNAIR NEWS – Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center is officially held by Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) online. The activity entitled The Role of Higher Education Institution to Achieve SDGs was held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Indonesia, Valerie Julliand, revealed that the SDGs Center inauguration in UNAIR reminded her of the spirit of the change movement at the university. “SDGs are a unified global goal that serves as a universal goal as an act of protecting the planet and ensuring that by 2030 everyone can live in peace and prosperity,” she explained.

In her opinion, all world leaders are adapted to SDGs since 2015 and promised to achieve common goals without leaving any countries. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of people’s lives.

“Covid-19 has hindered the countries progress in achieving the DGs that have been running in 2015 and 2020; all indicators have decreased,” Valerie said.

Therefore, hard work, bravery, skill, and dedication for aspects in SDGs can be achieved. Young people as future leaders must be brave in taking control and must have responsibilities for the creation of SDGs.

Valerie mentioned that many youth movements from around the world have defended injustice in society by fighting poverty, fighting for equality, and winning the race against climate change. Valerie said every young person must be skeptical to attract the spirit of inquiry and have the courage to challenge every status quo in society.

“Losing one part of SDGs is just like driving a car without steering wheel and brake. Therefore, simultaneous cooperation by every party is needed,” stated Valerie.

Valerie hoped that the establishment of the SDGs Center in UNAIR could support the development of the Sustainability Development Goals. “With the existence of this place, it is expected that aspects of equality can be realized through educational programs that will provide benefits for the wider community,” she revealed.
