UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga’s student team won third place in the 2021 Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship (KMI) event. They are Milyani Rizqiyah Ma’asya Nusi, Syfrina Nur Aini, Fathoni Ivan Baskara, and Fadhilla Amani Rindawan.

They sell some cosmetic and skincare products. Sales skyrocketed, and even their promotional video on TikTok reached 1.6 billion views.

The business owner, Asya, shared her background in selling beauty products. The idea started from her desire to be financially independent.

“Initially, I thought, it would be nice if I could make my own money, and over time, I found a market for skincare, ” she said.

Furthermore, Asya added the reason for naming the store “Jualan Anak Asrama.” It was chosen because she was often called a ‘dorm girl’ during high school.

About her team’s achievement, Asya admitted she faced some obstacles. “At that time, there were fake organic masks produced illegally, and the police made an arrest. Even though I did not sell that brand, I was still affected. Almost all organic mask brands’ sales have decreased,” explained Asya.

However, it did not dampen Aasya’s enthusiasm for doing business. Jualan Anak Asrama, established since 2019, has business differentiation regarding how to protect customers.

“I always prepare gifts for customers, both old and new customers. Besides, I often share through my Instagram stories and give them the freedom to consult about their skin problems,” she said.

She also revealed the presentation tips during KMI, that during the presentation, it was packaged in the form of a talk show so that it was not monotonous. Furthermore, the focus during the expo was to create a sense of comfort for the visitors by providing venue games.

In the closing, she tries to transmit her positive aura by not comparing personal achievements.

“Everyone has their own way to success. Whether it’s through business, through organizations, or something else. So just follow your instincts based on what you’re looking for,” concluded Asya. (*)
