UNAIR NEWS – On the third day of Virtual Airlangga Education Expo (AEE) 2021, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Rector greeted AEE participants again and introduced UNAIR. Unlike the opening session, the event held on Monday, February 15, 2021, was specifically intended to greet the education office, school principals, teachers, and other parties from SMA / SMK / MA and other equivalent education institutions.

On this occasion, the Head of East Java Provincial Education Office, Dr. Ir. Wahid Wahyudi, MT. also attended to greet and give important messages to UNAIR. Dr. Wahid revealed that the number of high school students who continue their studies at higher education institutions is still relatively low, including in the East Java region.

“For this reason, I really appreciate UNAIR’s steps to share information with government agencies and schools. Apart from that, I also hope that in the future there will be more scholarships offered to facilitate the educational opportunities of our students, “he said.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak. besides explaining opportunities and tips to be admitted in UNAIR, also encourage the schools to boost their students’ morale to pass State University National Admission Selection (SNMPTN) UNAIR.

The first aspect to consider is the choice of programs. Prof. Nasih emphasized that UNAIR would prioritize those who put UNAIR as the first choice. However, UNAIR will still consider those who choose UNAIR in the first and second choices.

The second aspect is the school index, which is an important determinant of SNMPTN qualification. “Some of the school indexes are determined from UTBK scores, achievements, and alumni. SNM participants who come from schools with good indexes automatically have a greater chance of qualifying, “explained Prof. Nasih.

So for students with a low school index, Prof. Nasih advised them to choose a program with less competition. This year alone, UNAIR only prepared a minimum quota of 1620 for the SNMPTN route. Therefore Prof. Nasih appealed to schools to guide their students to make the right choices.

Meanwhile, from the scholarship aspect, Prof. Nasih guaranteed that the Indonesia Smart Card-College (KIP-Kuliah) quota at UNAIR will be given to all new students with economic limitations. “KIP-Kuliah is for those who pass the SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and some from the Mandiri route who really need them. We will also help those who are late registering for KIP-College, to get the scholarship, “he explained.

In the webinar attended by various parties from the educational institutions, Prof. Nasih emphasized that there were no more obstacles for students to pursue higher education. For this reason, the only thing that students need to pay attention is the effort to pass the higher education selection through SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and Independent admission pathway.

“Therefore, teachers and school principals have an important role in directing students to choose the right majors. And we hope that this opportunity will provide information for all teachers, “he concluded. (*)
