UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Faculty of Humanities (FIB) students have made another achievement. This time, it was made by two students, Fitra Riyanto and Ani Nur Karimah. Both of them won first place at the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) on April 25-27 2019.

The achievements made by Fitra and Ani cannot be separated from their innovation. Students trained by Lingkar Prestasi (Lipres) FIB community made innovation in agriculture by initiating one house one land farming.

The idea of one house one land farming is their concern for the people of Klanting Village, Lumajang Regency. The community in the village are still lacking in utilizing empty land. Land productivity has not been able to improve the welfare of community.

Fitra Riyanto, one of the representatives explained that his idea was able to help the Klanting Village community to be more productive. The observation is still carried out and continued gradually.

One house one land farming is expected to be able to provide more productive land governance to the people of Klanting Village. With the program, the land around the house can add the value, “said Fitra.

He also said that the idea was able to boost the value of land slowly. Agricultural land is displaced by industrialization and other development is slowly damaging green land.

The choice of plants also needs to be considered. Family medicinal plants (TOGA) and vegetables are best for every home. The purpose of choosing TOGA and vegetables emphasizes the need of cheap and affordable houses for every family.

“Medicinal plants and vegetables such as chili, tomatoes, and others can help every family to save money,” said Fitra. “Land investment and family finances for the future can be helped slowly,” he added.

Fitra hoped that his ideas will be able to encourage people to concern more about the environment. There is no need to utilize other land, empty land around home can be used productively. (*)
