UNAIR NEWS – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Perisai Diri of Universitas Airlangga once again won the championship in Kejuaraan Keluarga Silat Nasional (Kelatnas) East Java on March 15-16. The championship which took place at Universitas Dr Soetomo, Surabaya, UKM Perisai Diri ranked first in class D (60-65 kg).
The person behind the achievement was Eny Mayangsari. Student of State Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
“At first I had no intention to join this competition because of encouragement from various parties, I decided to join and Alhamdulillah I was able to get first place, “Eny said when interviewed by UNAIR NEWS.
Eny said the championship had its own challenges because she was also busy with her thesis. On the other hand, Eny was also still suffering from her leg injury.
“I have to divide the time between the exercises and the thesis that I’m currently working on. Besides that, I am also in recovering phase of my foot injury that I experienced from previous match. That’s what made me uninterested to join this event before.” she added.
To UNAIR NEWS, her motivation was she finally can perform her talent again, especially for UKM and UNAIR.
The student who has a hobby of hiking revealed that although she came from a different martial arts UKM, she also paticipated in Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI).
“In certain times, mini circuits are often held where UKM, mainly from martial arts division. Thus, the sense of kinship emerge and it can properly carry out activities “he added.
Furthermore, Eny advised students to contribute achievements for UNAIR, because there are many ways to achieve them.
“With the facilities provided by university, there is no reason for us not to achieve. Complete training facilities will make it easier for us to bring the UKM and UNAIR to the world. Be a champion! “Eny said excitedly. (*)
