UNAIR NEWS – The work of Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Universitas Airlangga students should be appreciated. This time, Toni Prasetyo managed to publish a book. Toni managed to make a book cosisted of poems. The book titled with Sajak Perjalanan Merah Mahardika.
The book is a collection of poems written by Toni since serving as Head of Department of Student Association (HMD) History in 2018.
“Since I was in HMD, I thought about writing what was on my mind,” said Toni. “Usually, I write poems on social media” he added.
This book (Sajak Perjalanan Merah Mahardika, ed) was not only written by Toni, but also by other students. One of the contributors to the poem in this book was Tita, Head of Student Executive Body (BEM) FIB for 2017. The name of Merah Mahardika was from Toni’s pen name.
“My poems are related to history,” Toni said regarding the contents of his book.
Sajak Perjalanan Merah Mahardika has a lot to say about humanity side. Humanitarian problems such as Natakusuma and Munir were successfully written by Toni. Social criticism was also delivered nicely by Toni.
The process of writing this book was inseparable from the figure of Yunaz Ali Akbar Karaman. Yunaz has written a book first. Yunaz encouraged Toni in 2019 to publish his work.
Toni also often consulted with Indonesian Language and Literature (Sasindo) students. Consultation was done to get maximum results in arranging poems. Suggestions from Sasindo students often help him, especially for diction selection.
Furthermore, Toni shared his story when experiencing obstacles with the publisher. He sent his work on December 2018 and published in the end of February 2019. There were still revision and the approval of Standard Book Number (ISBN).
Toni hopes that FIB and UNAIR students will always write what they think. Because through writing, students are able to leave a trail for the present and the future. (*)
