UNAIR NEWS – Participating in International Model United Nation (ILMUN) for the first time, Dila Hadiputri felt excited. The student of Biomedical Engineering 2016 managed to become one of the delegates held in Queen Sirikit National Convention Center Bangkok, Thailand on January 29 to February 2, 2019.
Not only succeeded in becoming one of the delegates, Dila also received Award Honorable Mention Delegates of UNESCO. Furthermore, the activity was also attended by participants from Europe, America, Africa and Australia.
Interviewed by UNAIR NEWS, student who is familiarly called Dila said the activity is a simulation of education and academic competition that applies the real procedures UN session and each country sent a delegation or representative. In ILMUN, participants are representing the country according each country that has been allocated to the participants.
“For example, I was positioned as a delegation from Brazil to UNESCO,” he continued.
Dila said that she never thought of getting an award because there were a lot of participants that more competent in emotion, arguments, and vocal in language. During the trial, Dila tried to elaborate in her argument so, the delegates could understand her point of view.
“In the resolution draft, I always ask my fellow delegates and chair and co-chair of UNESCO since I am still new in here” he added.
However, Dila tried to push herself and show the best version of her without thinking too much.
“Alhamdulilah, UNESCO chair and co-chair noticed my effort” he added.
By forcing yourself, it will bring good things. She joined non-accommodation packages and she have to walk at night and take a midnight train ride. However, her struggle paid off with irreplaceable knowledge and experience.
