UNAIR NEWS – Airlangga Education Expo (AEE) 2019 was officially opened by UNAIR Rector, Prof. Nasih. Located at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) Campus C UNAIR on Friday, February 15. In front of the leader and thousands of participants, Prof. Nasih in his speech explained UNAIR accepted students in three session. National Selection of State Universities (SNMPTN), Joint Selection of State Universities (SBMPTN) and Independent Admission.

“For SNMPTN, we received 30% or around 2000 students,” said Prof. Nasih.

Besides that, he explained that on SNMPTN UNAIR not only for academic achievement. However, it can be from non academic achievement.

These special achievements include participants who have been trained since high school to become leaders, memorize religious books or win competition. For instance, Prof. Nasih explained memorizing Quran could be considered and can be additional points in entering SNMPTN.

Consideration is not purely based on ranking and achievement but there are also other things.  If there are participants who are willing to join double degree program funded by themselves, UNAIR will prioritize it.

“We offered to principals, parents and guardians of students in particular, if there are students whose parents are willing to finance a double degree activity with their own expense, UNAIR will consider it,” explained Prof. Nasih.

In SBMPTN, UNAIR received 40% or around 2500 students. Unlike previous year, UNAIR required participants to make essays related to national values, this year.

“The essay is one of evaluation points to be accepted in SBMPTN UNAIR. Participants who score slightly below the specified ranking may be able to qualify as UNAIR students if their meet the requirements than other participants above them, “explained Prof. Nasih.

For this reason, Prof. Nasih recommends that prospective SBMPTN participants prepare the exam. He told students to choose their choices after test scores.

“If there are parents who want their sons / daughters to be accepted in FK but the score is 500, it’s better to consider other choices. Because, the minimum value for FK is 800, “said Prof. Nasih.

The third provided by UNAIR is independent admission. UNAIR quota is 30% or around 2000 students.
