UNAIR NEWS – Another achievement is made by students of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). From the FISIP Debate Community who had already made achievement, three FISIP students, Muhammad Risyad Fahlefi (Political Science), Abidzar Roeri Barelvi (Sociology), and I Gusti Agung Ngurah Dicky Harvana (International Relations) went to Yogyakarta to compete in a debate competition on October 2-4.

In the debate held at UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, qualifying UNAIR team was Bung Karno Team from FISIP. The theme of the debate raised in the event was “State Defense in the World”. The team won the second place.

“The three of us are members of FISIP UNAIR debaters community and our seniors have made various achievements, we want to continue the positive trends. Previously, we won a similar event at Indonesian Christian University in January,” explained Muhammad Risyad Fahlefi as one of Bung Karno team members who set aside 36 teams from all over Indonesia.

“From this debaters community, we have participated individually and won championships in debate,” explained the student who had been a participant in Padjajaran Social Political Days at Padjajaran University, Bandung.

Not only Risyad, two colleagues in his team also won achievements in their respective fields. Dicky, for example, won 1st place at Andalas University and UPN Veteran Yogyakarta last year.

According to Risyad, Bung Karno’s team strength was in their ability to elaborate arguments and solutions.

“It is done based on a strong theoretical basis with an analysis in solving problems,” he concluded.
