Emil Elisianto Dardak, B.Bus., M.Sc as the keynote speaker on behalf of Governor of East Java .

On this occasion, Emil said that during the Covid-19 pandemic there is no safe situation until everyone felt safe. So everyone must always be careful against Covid-19. But at the same time it does not mean that people just stay in, but they to ensure that the economy keeps moving.

“It’s not just about health, because we (society, ed) know that our immune defense is our welfare, and our welfare needs to be maintained. Therefore, there are actions to ensure that we put our health first and also continue lives in a way that does not endanger our safety and health, ”he said.

Emil also revealed that in East Java, when Covid-19 first erupted, at that time no one really knew about Covid 19 and how to deal with it. At that time, to ensure that Covid-19 does not actually infect medical personnel, the government does not have sufficient safety equipment for health workers, as well as ventilators needed to assist in critical conditions of respiratory system.

“We (the government, ed) need to ensure that we can prevent these cases while we develop hospital facilities,” he added.

With great efforts of health workers, he continued, it was recorded that as of September 21, 41,076 people in East Java have been confirmed with Covid-19. There were 7,285 suspects, from the rapid test specimens reaching 933,082 and 293,235 PCR samples. From this data, it is known that East Java has made great efforts in overcoming Covid-19. Evidently, the percentage of recovery was 81.74 percent with a mortality rate of 7.28 percent.

In this regard, Emil advised the public to always maintain health and personal hygiene. If there is a need to be outdoors, please always use a mask and use handsanitizer and also keep your safe distance.

“I hope this information gives us an idea on how we manage Covid-19, as we previously know, it is unexpected. That’s why people sometimes feel frustrated about unstable policy changes. We are not safe, therefore we need to be careful in doing our activities,” he concluded. (*)
