UNAIR Physics academics invite teachers and students in Jember to understand Physics better

UNAIR NEWS – Community service is one of the pillars in the Higher Education Tri Dharma. In its implementation, community service is directed to support any communities. One of them is the study group that often becomes the target community, both inside and outside of school.

Department of Physics Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) invited Physics Subject Teacher Conference (MGMP) in Jember Regency and Pakusari Jember Public High School. The activity held on Saturday, October 17 took place virtually through Zoom and Youtube streaming.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Moh Yasin, M.Si., as the Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) said that this activity was an effort to promote UNAIR’s Department of Physics. This activity, which is held every year, has three subjects, programming language, defining medical materials and also the benefits of lasers in physics.

“Hopefully it can facilitate understanding of physics for both the teachers and students so it won’t be something feared by them. More general, it can provide insights for teachers in making students understand and students can master physics as a subject, “said the new dean.

In addition to providing insights on science of Physics, there are also materials related to improving health compliance in school areas in breaking the chain of Covid-19 transmission. This material was given directly by the head of the Covid-19 UNAIR task force team.

Furthermore, Ahmad Rosidi, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the head of the Physics MGMP Jember district added that this activity provided regency opportunities to learn directly from the experts. He continued, it can improve the quality of education, especially learning activities for Physics in high school.

Meanwhile, Siswo Suryno, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that this activity could enrich knowledge in order to face the challenges of industrial revolution 4.0 era. Also, especially for students, this activity is useful to improve knowledge in understanding and introduction to programming language that were not previously taught in class. (*)
