UNAIR NEWS – In the dissemination of SNMPTN and SBMPTN at Universitas Airlangga on Monday, February 11, 2019, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh Nasih stressed that UNAIR will be selective in choosing prospective students, especially those with deviant ideologies and anti-NKRI (Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia). The dissemination was given to school principals and teachers from 310 high schools in East Java.

This policy will be implemented in 2019 for the first time. Last year, there were several universities whose students and lecturers were exposed to radical notions and anti-NKRI. This selection is done by adding requirements in SBMPTN’s registration, through essay written by prospective students.

“In SBMPTN pathway, the nationalism insight of the prospective students will be taken into consideration. It is assessed from the essays written by the students, “said UNAIR Rector during the dissemination at at Garuda Mukti Hall of UNAIR Management Office.

UNAIR Rector said that this essay can filter prospective students especially on ideological issues, including their nationalism because those who want to enter university are expected to contribute to Indonesia.

“It means that good marks is not always accepted,” said Prof. Nasih.

UNAIR Rector emphasized that UNAIR not only accepted students who are bright, but their hearts must be with NKRI. “So we will take their nationalism into consideration,” explained UNAIR Rector.

Meanwhile, applicants from Tahfidz pathway will not automatically be accepted. Academic ability is also a consideration.

“For example, if there are prospective students who memorize 30 juz, but the academic value in the school does not meet the requirements, they cannot be accepted,” explained Prof. Nasih.

For Tahfidz 30 juz who were successfully accepted in UNAIR, they will not have to pay any Single Tuition Fee (UKT). It is free of charge every semester until they are graduated from college in 4 years for bachelor’s degree.

After this dissemination, hopefully colleagues from the schools, especially school principals and teachers, understand well the mechanism of admission in UNAIR, so the results (admission, ed) can be understood. Because all this time, there are still many questions from schools, “explained UNAIR Rector.

“We want everything to be fair, the excellent and the best are sure to be admitted. We hope that school officials can encourage students to meet their expectations, “he added. (*)
