UNAIR NEWS – Another achievement was made by Universitas Airlangga’s Student Activity Unit (UKM). This time, it came from Reasoning UKM members, Haflan Alfiri Widrayat and Siti Sulikhah. Both of them managed to get first place in the Business Competition, organized by Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (AIESEC), March 9, 2019 at Urban Office Surabaya.

Both students who are from the same class at Faculty of Economics and Business Management (FEB) program participated in AIESEC Data Analysis Competition 2019. In the competition, participants were given data on employee performance that focused on presence and company sales.

“In the competition we were only given data, so it was only in numbers. But Alhamdulillah, we were able to solve the existing problems until we finally got the first place, ” he told UNAIR NEWS via LINE.

Haflan revealed how to solve problems regarding data analysis. “Read lots of books and journals, and actively participate in competitions to gain experience that can be used for the next competition,” said Haflan.

In addition, FEB’s outstanding students (mawapres) in 2018 also emphasizedthe importance of student participation in UKM or clubs.

“It is necessary for students to join UKM. Because we can learn many things that we don’t get in class, especially soft skillsWe will have more acquaintances as well, “he added.

In addition to participating in UKM reasoning, Haflan is also active in several other organizations, Garuda Sakti and Workshop on Entrepreneurship Society (WEBS) FEB. According to him, friends and seniors are needed as support to make achievements.

“Discussions with friends from different departments and experience sharing with seniors can be an alternative to gain knowledge. Because it is how we can exchange perspectives, ” said Haflan.

Finally, Haflan hoped that UKM in UNAIR can win more national and international competitions. So, it can contribute for UNAIR towards Top 500 World Class Universities. (*)
