Puteri Indonesia East Java from UNAIR Talks about The Future of Banyuwangi Tourism

UNAIR NEWS – Tourism Olympiad Festival in Indonesia or TOFI was held from Monday, 29 October to Wednesday, 31 October 2018. The forum was themed “The Future of Tourism for the Millennial Generation” with “Towards Future Responsible and Sustainable Tourism” as the tagline.

One of the activities in that forum was a talkshow with guest star that are competent in their field. They were Putri Indonesia Jawa Timur 2017 which was also an alumnus of Faculty of Law UNAIR, Fatma Ayu Husnasari, and one of the television station’s host of My Trip My Advanture.

The talkshow was held on Tuesday, 30 October in Gezibu Blambangan, Banyuwangi Regency, it managed to attract around 214 college students and Vocational High school across Indonesia. All of them came from Tourism Department in 70 Polytechnic and 150 Vocational High School from Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Palembang, Malang, Semarang, Bali, to Samarinda.

The event held by Politeknik Negeri Banyuwangi (Poliwangi) with Ministry of Tourism, Banyuwangi was attended by Regent Azwar Anas, and also a student from UNAIR Faculty of Dental Medicine Leidy Herlin Rumbiak who represented West Papua in Putri Indonesia 2017.

“Each location must have their own potential to become a tourist destination with the help of innovation from milennials. So, it can be explored. ” said Fatma, a postgraduate student of FH UNAIR.

“Apart from visiting tourist destinations, milennials can be very effective for social media promotion. It should be utilized,” said Leidy.

Nowadays, uploading photo on social media is popular especially in younger generation and it will attract more visitors. Therefore, it is important to make sure that tourism destination to be instagram-able spot. So, people will notice it.

“I’m grateful to know that milennials help us to promote Banyuwangi tourism using social media.” said Banyuwangi Regent, Anas in the show.

After the show, Fatma and Leidy met their junior who also attended this event. (*)
