UNAIR NEWS – The second day of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Graduation ceremony was held online on Sunday, September 20, 2020. In this sacred ceremony, there were 1,348 on the second day. The proceeding was carried out at management Office Building, Campus C UNAIR, while applying the COVID-19 health protocols. The graduands living in Surabaya were also invited in the ceremony.

On this occasion, Didik Prasetiyono, SE, on behalf of Universitas Airlangga Alumni Association (IKA-UA) delivered a speech. According to him, graduation is a mental event that does not only involve the relationship between stimulus and response. However, graduation also involves thinking activities that will be mentally controlled by the graduates.

Didik emphasized that being graduates is not the end of their learning. However, the knowledge gained on campus should be applied. This knowledge must be used to solve and tackle problems that exist in society.

The graduates for September 2020 period are the chosen generation to graduate amid COVID-19 pandemic conditions. Graduating when the economy is under pressure is certainly not an easy thing. The graduates must be ready to be the nation’s hope and as ‘answers’ in current pandemic crisis.

“Your usefulness for the nation and state is expected. IKA-UA hereby welcome you with open arms, “he stated.

Didik as the representative of IKA-UA welcomed the graduates to the real world, where the real fight exists for them to put into practice the knowledge they gained from college.

“Good luck in the real world and welcome to IKA-UA. We are proud to carry the good reputation of the alma mater to the end of our lives. Take good care of it, “he said.

In the end, on behalf of IKA-UA, Didik gave his appreciation and praised the university response to hold online graduation. It is the right step to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Didik saw that the whole process did not reduce solemnity compared to the offline graduation.

“Congratulations to all graduates. We hope all of you can immediately adapt and build up network of usefulness in the future, “he concluded. (*)
