Dean of FF UNAIR 1964-1968 Prof. Sutarjadi Passes Away

UNAIR NEWS – Academics from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), especially Faculty of Pharmacy, felt a great sorrow. One of UNAIR best academics, Prof. DR. H. M. F Sutarjadi, Apt, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the age of 89. There was a memorial service in UNAIR Faculty of Pharmacy building on Sunday morning, April 7, 2019.

The late Prof. Sutarjadi was born in Malang, March 8, 1930. During his lifetime, Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Airlangga for 1964-1968 and 1979-1985 period, has made many contributions, both for faculties and universities. The deceased also served as Postgraduate School Director from 1989 to 1994.

According to Prof. Dr. Mangestuti Agil, MS, Apt., as a lecturer in Faculty of Pharmacy and a colleague who reads the life story of the deceased, during his period of service, there were many achievements made by the deceased, including the award of Satya Lencana from the government.

As a representative of peers, Prof. Dr. H. Achmad Syahrani, Apt., Ms., also conveyed his condolence while remembering the figure of the deceased. As a professor in the field of Pharmacognosy, the deceased was known as an inspiring figure.

“Hopefully all the services of the deceased can be his good deeds that multiplies,” hoped Prof. Ahmad Syahrani at the end of his remarks.

Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR, Dr. Umi Athiyah MS., Apt, was also present. Umi expressed her deep condolences in her remarks.

“The late professor is a figure who is very inspiring, kind and fatherly. All the goodness is always maintained by the deceased even now. The deceased even saw the new faculty building three times, ” said Umi.

“All the goodness of the deceased became an example and a challenge for all of us. From the deceased we learnt that as an educator, we must be able to fully committed to the noble values ​​of life. Hopefully all the memories of his kindness can be a proof before God, ” she continued.

Not only representatives from academic community, the family also gave a speech. The deceased’s family conveyed many thanks to Faculty of Pharmacy and all attendees. The family also apologized for the mistakes made by the deceased.

After the memorial service in Faculty of Pharmacy, a funeral prayer was performed at  Ulul Azmi Mosque Campus C UNAIR. The late professor was then laid to rest in Keputih Cemetery, Surabaya. (*)
