Faculty of Law Alumnus Inaugurated as Indonesian Ambassador to Canada

UNAIR NEWS – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo has just inaugurated 16 extraordinary and sovereign ambassadors stationed in some countries. As reported by the CNN Indonesia website (Monday, 07/01/2019, 12: 54), the inauguration was held at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. The president inaugurated them based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 / P / 2019 concerning the Appointment of Extraordinary and Sovereign Ambassadors of the Republic of Indonesia.

Among the 16 extraordinary and sovereign ambassadors appointed by President Joko Widodo, there is an alumnus of Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga.  Abdul Kadir Jaelani, FH UNAIR Alumnus in 1986 was appointed as Indonesian Ambassador to Canada and ICAO, based in Ottawa.

Regarding alumni achievements, UNAIR Rector Prof. Nasih said that the university always feels proud and appreciates alumni who make a real contribution to the nation. Furthermore, Prof. Nasih also stressed that UNAIR will continue to provide various support for all alumni so they can devote their knowledge.

“Of course this is for all of us. Because according to our great mission, higher education should indeed produce humans who are able to contribute to the civilization of the nation and the world, “he said.

Meanwhile, on global achievement of UNAIR alumni, Head of UNAIR Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) Dr. Suko Widodo said that it is a concrete form of UNAIR’s role in providing change for the nation and the world.

“We must fully support the work of thousands of alumni who have worked in various fields, especially those who can gain good reputation for the alma mater to the global scene, “said Suko.

The FH UNAIR alumnus born in Surabaya on March 18, 1966 had served as Deputy Director for Treaties on Political and Security Cultural Affairs, Vice Chairman of Interngovernmental Committee of WIPO on Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Forklore, and Director for Treaties on Political and Security Cultural Affairs.
