UNAIR NEWS – The 67th Anniversary of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) was enlivened by the presence of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Sandiaga, in his speech, mentioned 3G as the keys to the growth of the national digital industry.

Sandiaga said that 3G stands for Gercep (quick act), Geber (joint movement), and Gaspol (optimization of all online potential). These strategies were brought up because the pandemic has made the Indonesian digital industry ecosystem grow and adapt immediately.

“The television and radio sectors are quite interesting. Amid the pandemic, there was an increase of 10.4 percent. The soap opera Ikatan Cinta, a favorite of mothers, has an extraordinary impact. The audio-visual industry has very promising prospects,” he explained in the talk show entitled ‘The Future of Broadcasting and Multimedia in the Digital Industry Era.’

This prospect has made Sandiaga appeal to creative and digital industries to immediately innovate and create interesting contents for the world of broadcasting and multimedia in Indonesia. For example, Sandiaga mentioned the Voice Over Indonesia Academy (VOICE) program launched by his ministry in 2021.

“In this program, we accommodate the needs of sound, films, advertisements, videos, and podcasts. There are basic training and experienced mentors who are ready to help produce interesting contents and audios,” he explained.

Sandiaga even gave an example of dubbing or translating various Netflix series such as Money Heist to Korean dramas as one of the biggest markets for voice-over enthusiasts and young Indonesian creatives. Therefore, Sandiaga also denied the notion that digitalization has the potential to kill jobs.

“It is true that at least 23 million jobs have disappeared. However, there are 46 million new, more advanced and creative jobs that are presented through the digital industry,” he explained.

In this regard, Sandiaga again emphasized that the community must move quickly to adapt to digital developments (Gercep), prioritize collaboration over competition (Geber), and optimize digital potential as a symbol of the creative economy (Gaspol).

The talk show was attended by more than 1,300 participants via Zoom Meeting, and YouTube live streaming. UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak, in his speech, also supported and emphasized UNAIR’s commitment to accelerating the digital media and broadcasting industry. (*)
