UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., received a visit from Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Balairua, 4th Floor, UNAIR Management Office Building. This time the Minister of Social Affairs visited UNAIR in a series of official visits to Surabaya accompanied some leaderships in the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).
“Everyone can see the results (program of the Ministry of Social Affairs, ed) that it is not only because of me. However, we are assisted by universities like UNAIR. Also by the community, “said Tri Rismaharini.
The visit marked an effort to strengthen collaboration between stakeholders , especially with UNAIR, in overcoming a number of problems in society. Given, UNAIR has a number of advantages in the fields of health and social and humanities.
Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini also emphasized that assistance and support from universities, one of which is UNAIR, is very much needed. For example, related to efforts to deal with natural disasters in Indonesia.
“Yes, later if there are difficulties, we expect for supports. So far we have often communicated too. So if there is something we need, the Rector is also ready to help, ” she said.
Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini assessed that there are many opportunities for cross-sector collaboration that can be worked on. This depends on future problems that will arise in society. Basically, these academic and scientific considerations are very important in determining policies in ministries.
“Yes, we’ll see. Yes, in any fields. What UNAIR can do and is ready for, ” she said.
Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini gave an example when the Ministry of Social Affairs needed a lot of psychologists when a disaster occurred in several regions in Indonesia. UNAIR is one of those who fulfill this need with its resources.
Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini also said that UNAIR has given its supports in other matters, not only about psychologists. There are other fields as well such as several matters related to legal products in the ministry which are also assisted by a team from the Faculty of Law UNAIR.
“So, before signing (legal product), it must be checked first. There is a study first, a consideration first. All my legal products are checked, ” she said.
Meanwhile, responding to the visit, Prof. Nasih said that UNAIR is ready in supporting progress and solving problems in society. Ideas and activities of academics must be able to have a positive impact on society. It is part of a form of community service, according to the Tridarma of Higher Education.
