UNAIR NEWS – Amid the ongoing vaccination process, Universitas Airlangga is one of the educational institutions getting vaccination attention from the government. Although it is not yet comprehensive, some lecturers and administrative staffs UNAIR, especially the elderly have been vaccinated.

Vaccinations carried out at dr. Soetomo was a collaboration between the East Java Provincial Government, the East Java Provincial Health Office, dr. Soetomo Hospital, and Surabaya City Health Office, on March 16 and 18, 2021.

Regarding the vaccination, UNAIR Director of Human Resources (HR) Dr. Ir. Endang Dewi Masithah, MP said that there is limited availability of vaccines so the vaccination has not been done for all staffs.

“In principle, we are trying to get all UNAIR employees to get Covid-19 vaccines. However, we are still waiting for the availability of vaccines,” she said on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

“Efforts are made to ensure that the number of vaccines can cover the needs of all UNAIR employees, both lecturers and staffs,” added Endang.

After the vaccines are obtained, she continued, the vaccination could be carried out immediately by UNAIR health workers. If necessary, the vaccination process will involve Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA), UNAIR Dental Hospital (RSGM), Faculty of Medicine (FK), the Faculty of Nursing (FKp), and Healthcare Service Center (PLK).

The acceleration of vaccination is carried out in line with the hopes and efforts of the government to prepare an offline education process.

“The government hopes that by the end of June 2021, vaccinations for around five million teaching and administrative staffs will be completed. So the face-to-face learning next semester can hopefully be carried out,” explained Endang.

Meanwhile, the Director of Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA) Prof. Dr. Nasronuddin, dr., Sp.PD., KPTI-FINASIM said, until March 17, 2021, RSUA has conducted 1,224 vaccinations, which are divided into stage 1 and stage 2. They include 946 health workers, and the elderly.

“There is special attention from the government for UNAIR, regarding vaccinations for lecturers and staffs. It will be regulated by the HR Director, “said Prof. Nasron.

Within a day, RSUA, on average, can vaccinate 200 people. “Once the vaccine arrives, we can vaccinate it as soon as possible. There is a vaccination room on the 3rd floor (RSUA, ed) which can do vaccinations with international standards. Later the general public can register. It depends on the flow from the government, “said Prof. Nasron. (*)
