Department of Advanced Technology FTMM UNAIR Ready to contribute in solving national problems

UNAIR NEWS – The Department of Advanced Technology is the only department in the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). The position of Head of the Department which was previously assigned to dr. Niko Azhari Hidayat, Sp.BTKV (K) , is now entrusted to Dr. Prihartini Widiyanti, drg., M.Kes., S. Bio., CCD , who is also a lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR.

In the interview, the lecturer known well as Doctor Yanti stated that as a new faculty, FTMM through the Department of Advanced Technology would accommodate cutting-edge, visionary, and futuristic scientific technology. The goal is none other than to develop the nation in responding to the changing times.

Under the Department of Advanced Technology, there are five undergraduate programs: Nanotechnology Engineering, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Data Science Technology, Industrial Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. Five of them are relevant programs according to the needs of the times to achieve Golden Indonesia 2045.

“So, the programs reflect a variety of science and technology in response to the need for a technological approach, as well as knowledge to solve all the problems of the nation,” she said on Sunday, February 21, 2021.

As an example, doctor Yanti mentioned robots and artificial intelligence that ease human work, such as drones in delivering drugs or food to places of Covid-19 patients. Regarding renewable energy, the nano approach with nanotechnology engineering, there is also updating industrialization science, and in the era of digitalization, data science technology covers everything.

According to her, based on the philosophy of the FTMM’s establishment, this faculty accommodates technological advances and multidiscipline ones. Hopefully, it will summarize each program’s strengths and potentials to give advantages in responding to challenges in the future.

Furthermore, FTMM is preparing an annual program in the form of international seminars and regular international community service. Moreover, there is also a collaborative research program between academics and international partners that can increase scientific capacity and quality.

“In the future, all productive activities that can encourage the enthusiasm of lecturers, students and researchers of FTMM will continue to be improved. Moreover, is certainly done based on the Tri Dharma of higher education, “he explained.

“We will continue to support students in creating, both with the support of infrastructure, research needs, guidance, and all their needs. This is none other than to produce FTMM graduates so that they become figures who are ready to serve and accompany the people and the nation in facing the revolution of the times, “he added.

At the end of the interview, Doctor Yanti hoped that the Advanced Technology department would not only be known to the public in the future. However, it can also take the role of parsing all answers into solutions to problems, and bringing UNAIR’s name to be more prominent and actively contributing. (*)
