Sending off interns, FEB Islamic Economics program realized Freedom of Learning with LMI

UNAIR NEWS – The realization of Independent Campus Freedom of Learning program became a progress of the Islamic Economics (Ekis) program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). On Saturday, February 20, 2021, several students became the first batch sent off to carry out an internship program with Infaq Management Institute(LMI).

Chairman of LMI Board Prof. Ir. Mukhtasor, Meng., Ph.D in his speech welcomed the collaboration developed with Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR. LMI as a facilitator of freedom of learning program is ready to accept other FEB internship students in the following years.

Therefore, Dean of FEB UNAIR Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia, SE. M.Si., Ak in the ceremony emphasized the collaboration of the two institutions as an important realization of improving the quality of FEB UNAIR graduates, especially in Islamic Economics program.

“We hope that our great concern with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is able to increase partnerships in the future and our students doing internships at LMI will be able to absorb knowledge and practice in the field later,” she explained in the webinar Freedom of Learning: Ngampus from Anywhere.

The event itself was also followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Dean of FEB UNAIR and the Head of the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) Prof. Dr. H. Noor Achmad, MA It marks the continuous collaboration between FEB UNAIR and Baznas RI.

In addition to signing of the MoA, the event was followed by a seminar by some government officials and UNAIR academics. Director of Learning and Student Affairs Prof. drh. Aris Junaidi, Ph.D. emphasized the importance of the pentahelix ecosystem through Freedom of Learning program.

This statement was also supported by Assistant Deputy for Religious Moderation Thomas Ardian Siregar. Pentahelix synergy is a collaboration between the government, society, academics, business parties, and the media to improve the quality of human resources embodied in Freedom of Learning.

Therefore, UNAIR Professor of Islamic Economics Prof. Dr. Raditya Sukmana, SE., MA views that apprenticeship activities within the framework of Freedom of Learning program are an essential step in identifying practices and problems in the field.

“Later on, we can check the suitability between theory in the classroom and practices in the field. The synergy between FEB and Laznas is a form of mustahik facilitator, ziswaf development, and skills enhancement for students, ” he explained.

A similar statement was made by the Head of the Zakat Forum, Bambang Suherman, S.Si, M.Si, who believes that this activity could be a contribution of students to poverty alleviation through the zakat movement.

“Zakat and waqf in Indonesia are great in number and progress. But through student assistance in internships, research, volunteering, mentoring, and program implementation, we are sure that future progress will be even better, “he explained at the end of the event. (*)
