UNAIR NEWS – There is no doubt in the importance of alumni’s role for an alma mater. In addition to being the face of an institution, alumni can also support their institution to improve its position globally.

In this regard, the Directorate of Career Development, Incubation, Entrepreneurship and Alumni (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga has motivated alumni to contribute and support UNAIRS. One of the efforts was the “UNAIR Gathering Vote” to Top 300 World Class University, held virtually on Saturday, February 20.

On this proud occasion, the Rector and the leadership of UNAIR were attending. Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih as Rector of Universitas Airlangga said that one of the indicators of a university’s performance and management is the quality of the alumni. The alumni’s employability, he said, could show how good a university’s quality is.

“In 2021, employability or employer reputation is a key indicator specified by the ministry. Therefore, we hope that the role of alumni will support this indicator by voting UNAIR on their respective roles and positions, “explained Prof. Nasih.

Furthermore, Prof. Nasih also explained the role of alumni included in the indicators of various ranking surveys. Even in 2020, in the March survey, alumni’s role was able to boost UNAIR, which was previously at Top 651 World to become Top 521-530 of World’s best universities.

“And one of the points that determine the role of alumni is employer reputation, UNAIR can reach the Top 300 in the world,” he explained.

Furthermore, in his speech, Prof. Nasih also explained that UNAIR is committed to developing SMART University in the next five years. The “S” value at SMART University, he said, is a form of the university’s commitment to developing an education that can adapt to the needs of the times and the future.

“We want to produce graduates who can conquer global and future challenges,” he said.

At the end, Prof. Nasih also expressed gratitude for the alumni participation, which has made UNAIR better. He also hoped that in 2021, alumni would play a greater role in supporting each program at UNAIR to be a world-class program.

“We all work not for personal interests but for the benefit of the nation and to make UNAIR proud. Thus, it can provide benefits to all, “he concluded.
