FISIP introduces itself as a movement and inclusive campus in AEE 2021

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty Info Session Virtual Airlangga Education Expo (AEE) 2021 was held again on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. This time, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) introduce itself in presence of hundreds of high school students interested in being part of Orange Campus family.

Dean of FISIP UNAIR Prof. Dr. Bagong Suyanto, Drs. M.Si., in his speech, introduced FISIP as a faculty with a special reputation. Following the vision of the founder of FISIP UNAIR, Prof. Soetandyo, FISIP consistently strives to build an intersection of knowledge that can produce students with active, critical, and wise characters.

Therefore, Vice Dean 3 of FISIP Irfan Wahyudi, S.Sos., M.Comms., Ph.D., explained how the academic environment of FISIP provides opportunities for students to take courses across programs, faculties, and even universities.

In charge of seven departments and 13 programs, FISIP UNAIR also has a climate and faculty tradition that Irfan calls a culture of movement and inclusion on campus. “This is an advantage of FISIP because of the values of pluralism and equality we uphold. We provide facilities for friends with disabilities. Likewise, we continue to preserve democratic space in academic and non-academic activities, “he explained.

Furthermore, Irfan also emphasized the enormous job opportunities for FISIP graduate students. Irfan noted that FISIP UNAIR alumni have spread across various work sectors, from governors, diplomats, journalists, archiving information systems experts, anthropologists, policy analysts, consultants, animators, researchers, and many other professions.

The broad career fields of FISIP students are also driven by the importance of the socio-political realm to answer problems in society. It was conveyed by FISIP UNAIR Communication Science lecturer, Febby Risti Widjayanto, S.IP., M.Sc.

“In a pandemic, for example, even though this is a health issue, the implementation of policies and protocols will be very different if it reaches the public, likewise with the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Although technology will replace human labor, creativity, and morality will not be replaced. Therefore, FISIP is able to answer these challenges, ” she explained.

Meanwhile, the event held through Zoom Meeting, and Youtube live streaming also presented live testimonials from FISIP UNAIR students. There was Vice President of BEM FISIP Elni Nainggolan, who proudly praised the critical thinking and movements of FISIP students towards national and international socio-political dynamics.

It makes UNAIR Communication Science lecturer and Communication Facilitator Rizqiani Putri find a career path with FISIP UNAIR. “I invite my juniors not to hesitate to join the Orange Campus big family. I have found a dream here, and I am sure that you will find the same thing, “said the alumni of Master of Media and Communication UNAIR.
