UNAIR NEWS – For some people, 2020 is a very short year. Since the Covid-19 pandemic alert was announced in early March 2020, all activities have been forced to take place online.

The government’s regulation is still ongoing. In fact, as of September 28, the number of Covid-19 patients in Indonesia has reached 275,000. The duration of a pandemic, working and studying from home, has resulted in feelings of boredom and laziness. From children to adult, they have to do activities mostly at home for mutual safety.

On the other hand, maintaining health by exercising is essential. Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) UNAIR students organized online events for the first time. The event carried out various activities such as running, donating, to online hospitality.

“One of them is Stovit Run For COVID, we did productive activities even though we can’t go anywhere,” said Ajda Duhita Ghasanni as Head of the event on Sunday, September 27.

“The annual event usually held in person and being part of Stovit League. This time virtually and participants send a screenshot from the application, ” he added.

In addition to maintaining immunity, participants can also donate. It will be distributed to residents of Jumapet Hamlet, West Planggaran Village, Banyuates District, Sampang Regency, East Java. The donation will be used to build well so they can get access to clean water quickly.

“We (BEM FKG, ed) are working with Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) organization in distributing this donation,” said Ajda.

Building a well was deliberately chosen because the area often experiences a clean water crisis. Besides, it is expected to provide long-term benefits to the lives of the local community.

Meanwhile, Dewi Natasya, representing BEM FKG UNAIR, stated that a pandemic situation does not mean locking yourself up. However, an opportunity to innovate and stay productive.

“You will waste your time if you don’t do anything. Thus, we organized several online events. Such as virtual marathons, gatherings, and donations” said Dewi.

In the future, continued Dewi, as a young generation who has creative power and innovation stated that young people should develop ideas for the common interest. For her, if there is still time and space, anything can be done together.

“We miss our friends and lecturers. I hope the pandemic will pass quickly, ” she concluded. (*)
