Oral health is essential, especially for general health. In reality, children have bad habits of consuming sweet foods and drinks and poor dental care. Based on Riskesdas 2018 data, it was noted that the high prevalence of dental caries in Indonesia at the age of 3-4 years. As is known, dental caries can cause disturbances in daily activities such as biting, chewing, smiling and talking, and psychosocial well-being, including the development and general health of children. This condition can cause a decrease in daily activities.

This is what underlies the Unair research team to conduct research. Specifically, in this study, the researcher wanted to analyze the relationship between the incidence of dental caries with general health conditions and daily activities of children aged 2-5 years. Toddlers who experience dental caries will experience a decrease in appetite because of discomfort. Thus, it can affect the general health of these toddlers. Based on the research, it turns out that dental caries is a significant occurrence of general health problems in toddlers.

With this research, it is expected to provide information to parents about the importance of maintaining dental health in children. Hopefully, further information can serve as an evaluation for dental health programs in children to reduce the incidence of dental caries in children.
