Despite being busy managing institution, Koko Srimulyo named outstanding graduate

UNAIR NEWS – Despite being busy managing institution as Secretary of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Koko Srimulyo has completed his doctoral education with flying colors. It is evidenced by his achievement an outstanding doctoral graduate of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) with a cum laude grade point average, 3.86.

The Social Science doctoral student told that his desire to continue his education had actually been around for a long time, but it was hindered because he had job responsibilities. He could only started his study in 2016 after obtaining a scholarship opportunity to pursue doctoral education from UNAIR.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to Pak Nasih as the Rector for giving him opportunity to serve as well as study at the same time. I promised that my study would not disrupt me doing my job,” he said.

He explained that his biggest challenge in the beginning of his study was time management. According to him, doctoral study schedule is often changed, so he was a little overwhelmed considering his working hours at UNAIR was also until evening.

“It requires me to adapt quickly. As long as there is an intention, dream, and willingness to manage time well, nothing is difficult for me,”he explained.

The former Head of the Indonesian State University Cooperation Forum explained that when we become students, we must follow lecturers by doing all of their assignments properly without thinking about the marks.

“Have clear intention to seek knowledge. Do any assignments given, attend class regularly, “he said.

Koko also shared that he was grateful to have had such a great promoter in his study. According to him, his promoter really helped him in completing his dissertation research and overcoming several other obstacles.

“There was an open space with promoter for discussion. He also gave critical inputs on my writings, so it really helps the smooth running of my study, “he said.

Koko also advised other students not to be afraid to dream. “As long as there is a will, hope, and prayer, everything can be achieved and do not forget that the prayers and support of parents and spouse are everything,” he concluded.
