UNAIR NEWS – The pandemic has a huge impact on Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UMKM). In order to support the UMKM practitioners, UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) Accounting Three Year Vocational (D3) Program Student Association together with some lecturers conducted training and financial management assistance for UMKM in Kampung Batik Jetis, Sidoarjo. The community service activity was carried out online on Saturday, August 29, 2020.

Shelma Nur Azzahra as the chief executive said that the annual agenda was held as a forum of discussion between academics and UMKM practitioners. The goal is to assist UMKM Kampung Batik Jetis to increase profits and minimize financial failures amid Covid-19 pandemic. “We want to provide solutions with the right strategy to UMKM, especially UMKM Kampung Batik Jetis,” she said.

Amid a pandemic, UMKM Kampung Batik Jetis admitted that it was difficult to find consumers. It was exacerbated by the weakening economic conditions of the society.

Shelma also felt that the UMKM in Kampung Batik Jetis still need to know more about taxes, accounting, and marketing. “This is the reason we hold community service activities this time,” she explained.

In the webinar, UMKM practitioners were given insights on financial management strategies amid Covid-19 pandemic. The entrepreneurs were encouraged to sell products online. Furthermore, they are also given training on how to make financial reports.

“The implementation, Alhamdulillah, went well and received tremendous enthusiasm from the participants. Many of them also complained, so we discussed a lot, ”said Shelma.

Moreover, the material presented was related to daily trade, especially marketing materials, ”said Zainal.

In the activity, participants were also given knowledge on online product marketing strategies. It was conveyed by some UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies lecturers: Yanuar Nugroho, S.E., M.Sc. AK., CA., ACPA.; Phima Ruthia Dwikesumasari S.E., M.S.M.; and Bani Alkausar, S.Pn., M.S.A.

There were seven UMKM practitioners participated in the activity. Previously, Accounting Three Year Vocational (D3) Program also often held similar activities. Last year, students visited UMKM Kampung Kue Surabaya.
