UNAIR NEWS – One of Airlangga Knights made a national achievement, M. Fajar Faliasthiunus P., together with Nur Aidatuzzhro and M. Rizaldy Bin Nuryasin, students of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) won Second Place at the event organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) with the title ESDM Challenge 2020 which was announced on August 17.
The program was created because of the current problem of Indonesia’s renewable energy society towards in 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) areas which form a determination to help the community by implementing New and Renewable Energy (EBT).
“The implementation of EBT is carried out in Ko’ol village area, Bangkalan district, East Java. The area was chosen because it has potential sources of EBT that can be utilized. There are also innovations for water pumps and road lighting, ”he explained.
From this problem, Fajar made the idea of implementing EBT to make ice crystals, curing fish and water pumps based on Bio-Hybird Power Plant (PLT).
“This program is expected to increase the productivity and economic income of the local community,” he said.
Meanwhile, he admitted that there were difficulties during preparation for this program. According to Fajar, the event coincided during Covid-19 pandemic and made it hard for him to conduct the survey. However, he succeeded in overcoming all challenges during the pandemic.
In the future, they will continue and develop the program to solve the community problem. Fajar also hopes there will be more projects on EBT to help Indonesia achieve the 23 percent renewable energy target. (*)
