UNAIR NEWS – Covid-19 pandemic did not stop enthusiasm of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) to encourage students to serve and contribute to society through the Community Service Program (KKN). This morning, there were 3189 students attending the 62nd KKN send off ceremony online.
UNAIR KKN students are sent to locations in 28 provinces, 145 regencies / cities and the number is the highest in the history of UNAIR KKN. Students will stay and serve in the villages from June 29 to July 25, 2020. Head of the Institute for Community Service and Development (LPPM) Dr. Eko Supeno drs., M.Si said that 405 of the 3189 KKN participants had participated in the equalization KKN divided into Covid-19 task force volunteers in each region and participated in a program coordinated by lecturers.
“Students taking part in this period of Community Service Program were the most in the history of UNAIR Community Service. So the wisdom that we can take from KKN during the Covid-19 pandemic, the UNAIR flag, can be hoisted in 28 provinces of the KKN location, “he said.
Dr. Eko continued, besides facilitation by lecturers in each location, UNAIR will also provide assistance in health consultations. Students will be directed towards an effective program in handling Covid-19.
“We also have a health consultation clinic hotline managed for KKN assistance,” he added.
Meanwhile, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak emphasized that the Community Service program during the Covid-19 pandemic must be carried out effectively and efficiently without reducing learning outcomes. Students are expected to design activities or programs that can solve problems in the community.
“Students can design programs according to their knowledge that are able to provide good solutions in the community,” he said.
Whatever the programs, he continued, synergy and cooperation between students must be maintained. So students will be trained to work together with other teams. Therefore, in supporting an efficient KKN work program Prof. Nasih also said the importance of communication in bringing ideas to the group and the community.
“The ability to communicate and sell ideas will be needed in the community. So that ideas can be understood and worked together, “he said.
Prof. Nasih also hoped that during KKN, students could obey the health protocols applied in each location or village they stay. Participation in the health protocol will be the success and sustainability of the KKN program. He urged students to give good examples for the community.
“I hope that KKN participants can give a good example to the community in the villages in applying healthy behavior and health protocols (keeping a distance, using masks and often washing hands),” he concluded.
