UNAIR NEWS – Amid Covid-19 pandemic, thousands of students throughout Indonesia have to join online graduation procession. Students have their own story in completing their studies.

Narasi.tv and Mata Najwa held an graduation celebration event #WISUDALDR2020 on Sunday, June 14 involving 100 university student representatives from all over Indonesia. The event attended by Nadiem Anwar Makarim, B.A., M.B. A as Minister for Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Najwa Shihab, and several other influencers.

Among the students, there were two students from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) who successfully became the top 100 students of #WISUDALDR2020 event by narasi.tv and Mata Najwa. Namely, Aditya Novrian from History studies Faculty of Humanities (FIB) and Nurul Fitriani from Aquaculture Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK). The two of them will join virtual graduation from Universitas Airlangga on June 27.

Aditya Novrian interviewed by UNAIR NEWS team via WhatsApp stated that he was proud to be one of 100 university student representatives from all over the country.

“It was the first time for me to join virtual graduation. I’m grateful to be one of the selected 100 student representative and met students all over Indonesia that also have the same experience as well, “said Adit.

His story in completing the final task helps him to join the event. Moreover, he was the first student that finished virtual thesis defense of History studies.

Adit even have to send his thesis file through the package service. In order to cover the cost, he has to sell his mobile phone and shoes. During this pandemic, he also actively wrote opinions on several online media.

Nurul Fitriani also expressed the same thing as well. She also grateful to be one of the 100 selected students and talked with Najwa Shihab and several influencers.

“I’m happy because I have a chance to talk with Najwa and other great influencers,” said Fitri.

In the future, Adit wants to work as a reporter on the media company, and Nurul wants to continue her master’s study with LPDP scholarship.

Both of them believe that 2020 graduates are more adaptive and innovative with new challenges in the digital era.

“Pandemic is a challenge for yourself; everything depends on you. ” said Nurul. (*)
