UNAIR NEWS – For the sake of providing the best facilities for students, the Center for Career and Entrepreneurship Development (PPKK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held Airlangga Career Club (ACC), on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. On this occasion, ACC invited UNAIR Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) alumna, Ayu Kartika Dewi, discussing Career as Social Worker.

Through Zoom app, Ayu said she was very delighted to be able to share things, motivation, and her life journey. She said that many people questioned the salary as a social worker.

“I have had various range of salaries, but in the end I realized that the salary was not the most important aspect in making a decision of my life,” said the 2005 UNAIR alumna.

Ayu said that there was one aspect that she finally found, continuity with the purpose of life. That led Ayu to a job that was the most sustainable with her life goals. She explained that to find a goal is to find out what we love and what we hate.

“I don’t know what I love, but I am fed up with intolerance. After that I decided to devote my life to working on tolerance. And I found this long after I graduated from college, ” she said.

Then, she continued, what is equally important is determining the corridors of life, sharing what we must have and achieving and also what we must avoid in achieving a life goal, such as determining a dream job.

In the session, Ayu also invited the audience to aspire to be authentic, not to be a good person, and need to conduct a friendship audit. From that we know what makes us happy in life supported by friends who can strengthen us to achieve life goals.

“Most of the idealism of young people today want to do big things. It is disappointing. But the most appropriate is we do what we can, find out what we can do and do it, don’t aim for success but aim to fail many times, ” she explained.

With high tolerance spirit owned by Ayu, now she has managed to become a co-founder and build a platform that can foster a sense of tolerance, such as Sabang Merauke, Toleransi.id, Islamic Millennials, and Perempuan Gagal which bring a big impact on the nation’s generation to have enthusiasm in reaching life goals.

Furthermore, Ayu also currently serves as Presidential Special Staff where she also works to help others and benefit the Indonesian people, because it is a mandatory thing that she must do in her life.

At the end of the session she gave the audience advice so they can be consistent in doing something. “Make friends, don’t be alone, because we will run out of energy. Find friends with the same fire, work together because they will strengthen us to be consistent, “Ayu concluded. (*)
