UNAIR NEWS – During pandemic, teaching and learning activities (KBM) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) are done online. To support this online classes, UNAIR provides internet data up to 15 GB to each student.

UNAIR Directorate of Information Systems (DSI) Director Badrus Zaman, S.Kom., M.Cs., revealed that internet data subsidies were given to UNAIR students in diploma, bachelor’s, and professional programs. There are total 28 thousand students who will receive internet data subsidies during pandemic.

“Of the 28 thousand students, there are still only 17 thousand students who have just confirmed it,” he said via telephone on Monday, April 27, 2020.

Badrus added that students who want to get internet data subsidies must fill out an online health form at cybercampus.unair.ac.id. While filling in the form, there will be an option to fill in the number and type the provider students use.

The internet data subsidies for UNAIR students will be carried out in two stages. The first phase was carried out in April. The second phase will be given in May or it will even continue if the pandemic continues.

“For two months, we (UNAIR, ed) will try to fulfill the needs of students so online study can take place without problems,” he explained.

Nevertheless, students must also fill in the health forms available. Students are expected to update their mobile numbers. It was done so that the registered numbers could be used by students in accessing the internet during a pandemic.

Badrus also appealed to students who did not get an internet data but had already filled out a form to report it to faculty BEM first. The BEM faculty will report the problem to the university BEM and will coordinate directly with DSI UNAIR.

“Regarding the six internet service providers is certainly contacted gradually because we will re-verify thousands of students numbers whether they are associated with the right providers or not,” he said.”Regarding the six internet service providers is certainly contacted gradually because we will re-verify thousands of students numbers whether they are associated with the right providers or not,” he said.

In providing internet data, DSI UNAIR verifies the numbers to the provider before it is processed. There are still many students who fill in the numbers incorrectly. (*)
