UNAIR NEWS – During Coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic, UNAIR continues to make efforts to handle and prevent it together with related institutions. In this situation, aid from the community and institutions continues to arrive. One of them is from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

OJK with all financial service institutions in East Java showed empathy to ease the burden, especially for medical workers who were fighting against Covid-19. It was manifested in the donation made to Universitas Airlangga Social Fund Management Center (PUSPAS).

A ceremony was held on Friday, April 3, 2020 in Rector’s office, UNAIR Management Building. The donation ceremony was attended by the leadership of UNAIR, OJK along with representatives of East Java financial services institutions, and UNAIR PUSPAS.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Mohammad Nasih said that in handling Covid-19, UNAIR currently has three main tasks. First, handling patients. Second, the swab testing at the Institute of Tropical Disease (ITD). And thirdly, product development, both for the prevention and treatment of Covid-19. According to him, these three aspects needs extraordinary energy.

“We have limited energy. It requires supports from all parties. So we can work with more focus, ease, and calm, especially for the needs of PPE (personal protective equipment, ed), “said the rector.

Meanwhile, Head of East Java Regional IV OJK Office Bambang Mukti Riyadi said that the donation was intended specifically for medical workers in the fight against Covid-19. On that occasion, the OJK also came with representatives of institutions including from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Bank Mandiri Syariah, the East Java Regional Financial Services Institute Communication Forum, and Bank BRI.

“We together with the Regional Financial Services Institution Communication Forum provide assistance to PUSPAS UNAIR, especially aimed at those who are in the frontline in the war with Covid-19,” said Bambang.

“This is a moral movement. Because we never know when the peak and end of Covid-19 is, “he added. (*)
