Preparing professional world, D3 Student in Hospitality Management UNAIR conducts housekeeping practicum

UNAIR NEWS – D3 Students of Hospitality Management at Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga are required to master housekeeping courses, both soft skills and hard skills.

The course is made for students to serve guests professionally at the hotel. In the world of hospitality, this subject included in Housekeeping Department, whose job is maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, comfort in rooms, public spaces, restaurants, bars, and other open outlets in hotel.

The housekeeping department has a massive responsibility because this department deals directly with guests. It is useful to have more skills and broad insight to prepare students in the professional world.

Therefore, knowledge and theory related to housekeeping are essential for students to learn about it.

Besides, students learn housekeeping courses with lecturers who are experts in their fields, of them is Afi Wijayanti. The course is divided into two classes: DN 1 at 07.00 and DN 2 at 12.40. Besides that, the practicum took place at Airlangga Hotel, and the goal is for students not only to understand the theory but to get hands-on practice.

Students are also taught several things including towel art, making beds, setting up the trolley, entering the room, and others. Moreover, the enthusiasm of students is very high in participating the practicum .

“We hoped students could develop and hone their soft skills and hard skills, especially in the world of Hospitality,” said Cindy Laurencia Soebagio, D3 Student Hospitality Management.
