UNAIR NEWS – The government has officially appointed Universitas Airlangga Hospital (UNAIR Hospital) as one of the coronavirus test sites. For this reason, all preparations have been made by UNAIR Hospital. One of them is by providing special clinic for patients conducting coronavirus tests.

UNAIR Hospital started providing coronavirus test last week. In an effort to provide information disclosure to the public regarding the development of the coronavirus, UNAIR Hospital Director, Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., Sp.PD, K-PTI, FINASIM., Accompanied by the Head of Corona Task Force, Prastuti Asta Wulaningrum dr., Sp.P., and spokesman of Corona Task Force Alfian Nur Rosyid dr., Sp.P, FAPSR., made few statements before the media on Monday, March 16.

Being held in Dharmawangsa Hall, UNAIR Hospital, dr. Prastuti said that she was thankful for the high interest of the community for conducting the coronavirus test at the special clinic of UNAIR Hospital. Until now, she explained, the number of patients having examination at UNAIR Hospital reach more than 500 patients. With average 100 patients per day taking tests at the special clinic of UNAIR Hospital.

“Starting today, Monday (3/16), patients undergoing tests at UNAIR Hospital are limited to 100 patients. That is, to optimize services, ” she explained.

Furthermore, she continued, 100 patients per day can minimize the interaction between patients conducting coronavirus test at UNAIR Hospital. From the patients taking the test, there were categories of healthy people without symptoms, person under monitoring (ODP), and patient under surveillance (PDP).

“In our records, there are 9 patients hospitalized. PDP 3 people and ODP 6 people. Most of the patients taking corona test at UNAIR Hospital can have outpatient treatment, “he said.

Meanwhile, Director of UNAIR Hospital Prof. Nasron on the same occasion said that as one of the hospitals appointed by the government from hundreds of referral hospitals representing PTN, his institution tries to provide the best service. However, if there are some things that are unsatisfactory, he hoped that the community can understand as this situation is an unusual condition.

“Since it was opened five days ago there have been more than 500 patients who have tested. And starting today, we limit the number of 100 patients per day due to limited human resources, “he said.

In the end, dr. Alfian, on that occasion, said that UNAIR Hospital had tried their best in providing the services. He also hoped that the media can help to educate the public to avoid panic.

“For those who do not have symptoms and just worried, should not take the test because otherwise people who actually needs it can’t even take it due to long queues, ” he explained. “That is what ultimately gives our service a bad reputation. Once again, panic occurs because of the ignorance of the community. And the role of the media is very important to provide education, “he concluded.
