Ksatria Airlangga wins 6 medals at National Taekwondo Championship

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga is once again proud of the achievements of its students. This time, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Taekwondo Student Activity Unit (UKM) won 6 medals in 2020 National Defender Taekwondo National Competition (Jabar Open).

The Minister Defense Cup was held at GOR Youth Center Arcamanik, on Saturday, March 7 to Sunday, March 8.

A total of six medals were won by UKM Taekwondo, including three gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. Here is the student’s name who has succeeded in bringing UNAIR’s name on the national level.

  1. Mutiara Wira Wibowo U-57 Kyorugi (Gold),
  2. Gigih Mahardika U-54 Beginner Kyorugi (Gold),
  3. Agustina Dwi Cahyani U-53 Beginner Kyorugi (Gold),
  4. Arinda Nurhasanah U-49 Kyorugi (Silver),
  5. Dicky Hengky Dwi Pambudi Kyorugi Beginner U-54 (Silver), and
  6. Lusia Sitokdana U-54 Kyorugi (Bronze)

After defeating around 500 athletes from various regions in Indonesia, the athletes grateful for this national achievement. One of the athletes, Gigih Mahardika said that although the preparation was less than optimal, they are thankful for the results. “We are grateful to give our best for Taekwondo trainers and UKM Universitas Airlangga,” he said.

Nur Izzati Machrita, the coach known as’ Sabeumnim ‘, also revealed that preparation for 2020 Jabar Open championship is ready. Both in terms of physical training, technique, and application.

One of the preparations is arranging lecture schedules and training center or training center schedule. She emphasized that the athlete’s discipline is one of the things that can be seen from them in preparing the championship.

“The achievement that has been achieved is quite excellent. However, we don’t want to be quickly satisfied until that point, ” she said.

“There are many things that need to be improved and maintained. Thus, it will help the athlete’s skill to be better,” he added.

The trainer also said that athletes were taught not only psychometrically, but also education about technical application strategies during matches and mental training that needed to be improved. This training is expected to increase the discipline and athlete’s interest to maintain and continue to develop their skills. (*)
