UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga is proud to receive achievements from its students. Three students from Islamic Economics Study Program Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR  succeeded in bringing home two East Java awards at Regional Scientific Meeting (TEMILREG) at Universitas Yudharta, Pasuruan. The two awards were Second Place Pitching Competition and Best Poster.

The scientific gathering activity held every year by Silaturrahim Forum on Islamic Economic Studies (FoSSEI) and intended for Islamic Economic Study Group (KSEI). The competition lasted for five days from Friday, February 28 to Tuesday, March 3.

The three students were Rolista Dwi Oktavia (Islamic Economics 2017), Herlin Rahmayanti (Islamic Economics 2017), Shinta Sunja Prastika (Islamic Economics 2017). In the competition, they carried ‘ABON BONE’ as their innovation product.

ABON BONE’ made of shredded milkfish bone is quite an innovative product in the market. This food product is also increasing the economy in Indonesia. According to them, the business innovation can also reduce the unemployment rate in the nation.

Rolista said the innovation product could also overcome zero waste problems and improve MSMEs in Gresik. After going through the process and struggle, Rolista and the team were grateful for contributing achievement to KSEI HIMA EKIS UNAIR.

“We also support zero waste movement to reduce milkfish bone waste and help increase the production of MSMEs in Gresik,” she said.

There were several problems that Rolista and her friends must face together as a team. Besides, they won as the Best Poster category in this competition.

“To reach this point, we need to struggle even though the journey is tricky. After participating several times, God grants our wishes, “she said.

“We also won in Best Poster category even though I’m still new when it comes to photo editing,” she added.

Rolista expressed her gratitude for all the support, especially for the team project. She also mentioned that prayers and support of family and friends of Islamic Economics UNAIR help the team to join this competition.

“If you want to reach something in life, you have to set goals and put in the work to become the best version of yourself,” she added. (*)
