UNAIR NEWS – Mufidah Anisah is a student of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) class of 2017. The student who is familiarly called Mufidah started her community service journey in 2019 precisely in Tambora. Unexpectedly after that, she continued to add experience outside the country.
Starting from her ambition to build hospitals across the country, Mufidah explored Indonesia to learn about the real condition in here. Through this dedication, some parts of Indonesia still needed youth’s hands to build the local area.
The community service activity in Raja Ampat is focused on environmental health and economic issues. Meanwhile, she said that Malaysia local condition is quite similar to Indonesia. In addition to these two places, Mufidah has also served in West Nusa Tenggara and Jember.
Through the various services that Mufidah has done in the past year, she learned so many new things and gained knowledge as well. According to her, community service help student to directly channel knowledge during their study in class to the community. Besides, mostly residents gained extraordinary benefit from this activity.
“We can understand what people need from the knowledge that we have. We also feel welcomed to the community because they always open up and communicate with us, “she said on Monday, January 10.
Furthermore, she explained the obstacles that she faced during the community service activity. According to her, there are several things in terms of trips that take days and local languages where each region has its accent for communication.
She advised that as a student, dedication to the community is important. It gives more meaning to give, learn and hear their problem.
“Devotion is about giving back, learning and hearing the community voice, so their story can be heard, and we can help to solve their problem,” she said. (*)
