UNAIR FST presents 6 adjunct professors to strengthen internationalization in 2020

UNAIR NEWS – Beginning 2020, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to accelerate its internationalization program. One of the efforts is maintaining collaboration with partner universities abroad and establish more partners. From this collaboration, UNAIR can get various benefits.

The collaboration can be from inviting foreign teaching staff in various schemes, such as adjunct professor / faculty and visiting fellow.

Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) is one of the 14 faculties at UNAIR which three years in a row named the best performing faculty. In 2020, FST UNAIR invited six world class professors as adjunct professors.

The six adjunct professors are Prof. Dr. Harith Bin Ahmad from University of Malaya (UM); Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Director of ICCBS (International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences) University of Karachi, Pakistan; Prof. Dr. Norhaslinda from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UTM) Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UTM) Malaysia; Prof. Norsarahaida Saidina Amin from UTM Malaysia; and Prof Rue from Taiwan. The presence of the six adjunct professors is prioritized to improve the quality of research, publications, and citations of FST.

“In principle, this adjunct professor program is preferred for improving research and publications. We want to increase our citation as well because these are great people whose publications and citations are extraordinary, “said Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah Vice Dean III of Faculty of Science and Technology, met in Faculty Meeting Room on Monday, January 20, 2020.

In addition to accompanying research and publications, continued Nanik, adjunct professors also give guest lectures, so students have the opportunity to learn directly from world-class professors. Nanik added, the minimum requirement to become an adjunct professor must have a minimum h-index of 10. So this program can perform well possible to assist internationalization program of FST and UNAIR. (*)
