PKL students make efforts to save toddlers from cigarette smoke

UNAIR NEWS – To find cigarette problems in Pilangsari Village, Kalitidu Sub-district, Bojonegoro Regency, students in the Field Work Practices (PKL) Faculty of Public Health (FKM UNAIR) conducted an intervention to save infants aged 0 to 2 years from cigarette smoke. One of the activities was dissemination related to 3M + and the dangers of smoking held at the local village hall.

“The purpose of holding these activities is to reduce the stunting rate, which one of the causing factors is the exposure to cigarette smoke,” explained Nia Tri Wulandari, a student known well as Nia, Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

In addition to conducting dissemination, students also held cooking class for food or drinks to stop smoking; and Sharing is Caring. Some of the foods and drinks that are practiced are Wedang Ehe, Comel, and MP-ASI.

Nia hoped that all the activities carried out can improve the knowledge of mothers related to the health of their toddlers. Furthermore, in the cooking class, the mothers were also very enthusiastic during the activities.

“Hopefully the cooking class can be done at home continuously,” he concluded. (*)
