UNAIR NEWS – After visiting the oldest campus in Central Europe, Charles University, on Monday, January 20, 2020, two delegates from Universitas Airlangga made a visit to Palacky University on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
The visit was carried out by the Coordinator of Social Sciences Doctorate Program Dr.phil., Dra. Toetik Koesbardiati, Ph.D and Staff for Event and Communication Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) Afifah Rahmania, S.Hub.Int., M.PSDM.
In the visit, Toetik and Afifah met Ondrej Pokorny as Head of Indonesian Section. They had a tour around the Palacky University and stopped at Indonesian language room there.
“It turns out that there are quite a lot of students, around 50-60 students. We are promoting several international programs, especially AMERTA (Academic Mobility Exchange for Undergraduate at Airlangga, ed), “Afifah said.
Similar to the visit to Charles University, they also discussed the plan to open an Indonesian Corner. Ondrej welcomed it enthusiastically because he was trying to start Asean Studies Center.
During the meeting, Toetik also mentioned the activities of Indonesian Corner that has been running on two campuses, Asia University (AU) in Taiwan and Prince Songkla University (PSU) in Thailand.
“He (Ondrej, ed) was very enthusiastic. Pak Ondrej is going to face his rector to discuss the initiation of Indonesian Corner. Hopefully, the establishment of Indonesian Corner at Palacky University can be realized this year, “added Afifah.
This Indonesian Corner will later provide a lot of information in various media, such as books, pamphlets, magazines, reading material about and from Indonesia, and material related to Indonesian culture.
Furthermore, Afifah said, the Indonesian Corner would later be expected to hold various activities, such as Indonesian film screening, and guest lecture to teach Indonesian both for students and lecturers.
The latter has been running at Asia University and Prince Songkla University, a lecturer from Universitas Airlangga trained the Indonesian trainers. The main objective is to teach Indonesian lecturers and teachers.
For information, previously Toetik and Afifah had visited Charles University. There were two agreements made at the meeting, the establishment of Indonesian Corner and tailor-made program in the field of anthropology or studies on death at Charles University. (*)
