December 2019 Graduation, UNAIR Rector: Always have three keys to achieve success

UNAIR NEWS – For December 2019 period, Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., graduated 1235 students. The academic ceremony inaugurated graduates from diploma level (D3-D4), bachelor (S1), master (S2), and doctoral degree (S3) programs. Held at Airlangga Convention Center Building (ACC) Campus C UNAIR, the graduation procession was held on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

This graduation was attended by Head of East Java Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) Anom Surahno, SH, M.Si., Bank Indonesia Executive Director Hamid Ponco Wibowo, Chair of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Alumni Association (IKA), Drs. Ec. Haryanto Basoeni, Sunardi and Rumi Ana as parents of the late graduate, Deni Setiawan.

In his speech UNAIR Rector congratulated and thanked the graduates. He hoped that after completing their studies, alumni can take part and be ready to compete globally.

“All of you are not only educated for the expertise, but we also emphasize morality. Morality as a human being, a citizen and a religious community, so I am sure UNAIR graduates will gain success, “said Prof. Nasih.

UNAIR Rector was proud of the graduates as they had successfully graduated from one of the world’s leading universities. UNAIR as a university ranked 401st in the world and 86th in Asia for Academic Reputation, and 393rd world and 83rd in Asia for Employer Reputation.

Not to forget, UNAIR Rector also gave advice to all graduates to be ready to face one of the challenges in the world today, VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) in the era of disruption and industrial revolution 4.0. According to him, such a situation can be overcome with three main keys that must be owned, discipline; hard work; and lifetime learning.

“These days we know that the world is full of disruptions. These three keys can be used to achieve success. For those of you who can hold them, you will be able to continue to grow and develop, “said Prof. Nasih.

One element of progress is the discipline of its citizens, especially discipline from those the category of educated society. Discipline is the key, because it relates to its consistency, especially in terms of time discipline.

Then hard work is needed to take advantage of opportunities, because progress can only be achieved by those who work hard. And finally continuing to learn is a contribution to solving the problems facing by the world in the future.
