FKM UNAIR and Griffith University Hold International Conference

UNAIR NEWS – To improve global recognition, Universitas Airlangga through Faculty of Public Health held The 4th International Symposium of Public Health with Griffith University. Being held on October 29 and 30, 2019, the event was held at the Gold Coast Campus, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia.

To UNAIR NEWS, one of the representatives of FKM UNAIR, Pulung Siswantara S.KM, M. Kes., said that the international conference was the result of a collaboration between FKM UNAIR and Faculty of Medicine, Griffith University. The purpose of the conference, in addition to strengthening FKM UNAIR cooperation with overseas universities, it is also a place for public health scientists to exchange ideas and discuss health topics.

“Of course this conference is as valuable and important to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, skills and practices for public health scientists,” he explained. “Besides, it can also be a place to build collaboration between public health scientists from around the world,” he added.

Pulung also said that the theme of the conference was “Optimizing Public Health for Sustainable Global Prosperity Through Innovative Collaboration”. From that theme, Pulung continued, the attending participants could raise various issues related to the them.

“There are four sub themes raised in the conference, Contemporary public health challenges: Populations, issues, and settings, Innovative strategies to promote health, Sustainable and healthy urban living, and Multi-stakeholder partnerships to strengthen health systems,” he said.

In the end, Pulung also said that the theme of the conference was focused on the public role of health in order to be more optimal. The reason, added Pulung, with a more optimal public health role of the public, the achievement of sustainable development goals in Indonesia and even the world can be maximized.

“In addition to this very noble goal, the most important thing from this conference is the warm welcome of the host and the organizers that are truly amazing,” said Pulung.

In the conference, the ranks of lecturers in FKM UNAIR also attended and presented the results of their researches at the conference.
