UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) won second place in a national competition at National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) Cup Prof. Soedarto VII, which was held by Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) on Friday, September 13-16 in Semarang.
National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) is a trial simulation competition that is carried out as ideal as possible or commonly called pseudo judicial competition. FH delegation sent 20 students from 2016, 2017 and 2018 classes, chaired by Anda Gangga. In the competition, they faced 15 competitors from various campuses in Indonesia.
“We had to compete with 15 competitors from universities throughout Indonesia, and entering the final was quite hard,” said Gangga.
In the competition, the delegation of FH UNAIR had to go through a preliminary stage which had to simulate a corruption trial and led to the final round against Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), and Universitas Parahyangan (UNPAR) in the final round.
“We are happy because we work hard and put effort together. By doing research and consultation to prepare this competition, “answered Gangga.
In preparing the competition, FH UNAIR delegation set aside six months. During that time, they researched corruption and studied the stages of filing and trials.
“Another preparation is avoiding eating oily foods and drinking ice. Furthermore, we also consume galangal to prepare this competition,” said Ganga.
NMCC Prof. Cup Soedarto VII was judged by four judges. They consist of legal practitioners, namely judges, prosecutors, and lawyers; and one academician to assess the creativity of trial material.
According to Gangga, UNH FH delegation succeeded in winning as the second winner in the competition.
Besides FH UNAIR delegation also received the best category of defendants won by Inas Audah (2018). (*)
