FKG UNAIR Explores Collaboration with American and Korean Universities

UNAIR NEWS – In an effort to support the vision of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) towards world class university. Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) UNAIR continues to improve its academic affairs quality through international collaborations. This time, FKG UNAIR invited two international professors.

The professors were Prof. Jae Hyun Park, DMD, MSD, MS, PhD from Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, A.T Still University, and Prof. Yoon Ah-Kook from Graduate School of Clinical Dental Science, the Catholic University of Korea. Being held at Visiting Professor FKG UNAIR, a strategic meeting for future collaboration was held on Friday, August 23, 2019.

The meeting was also an opportunity for FKG UNAIR to introduce several faculties program to support collaboration program. Dean of FKG UNAIR, Dr. Darmawan Setijanto, drg., M. Kes, said the cooperation could bring a positive impact on all parties in the future.

“We will offer several programs, our faculty has collaborated with many international universities to improve student mobility, staff mobility, research, joint publications, and many more, ” he explained.

Darmawan showed the research project result and one of FKG UNAIR products, Dentomaxx toothpaste. Not only that, he also introduced the adjunct professor program which has been run by FKG UNAIR for a long time.

Adjunct professor is visiting activities program conducted by lecturers or overseas professors to UNAIR within one to two weeks to conduct academic activities. They will have an opportunity to teach students, test their thesis and dissertation, or conduct joint research with UNAIR lecturers.

“FKG UNAIR also opens an opportunity for student of Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and Catholic University of Korea who wants to join the inbound or outbound program. Moreover, FKG UNAIR often invites foreign students to participate in community empowerment programs, “Darmawan explained.

Hearing the presentation, Prof. Jae Hyun Park considered the program owned by FKG UNAIR was great. He hoped that the program that had been initiated together could run well.

“I appreciate this collaboration program and thank you for the extraordinary welcome and dinner,” said Prof. Jae.

After discussing the direction of cooperation, the three universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a cooperation agreement. (*)
