UNAIR NEWS – The efforts made by Universitas to achieve world-class university have received appreciation from one of the institutions from neighboring countries, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARC). TARC visited UNAIR on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. The arrival of TARC was an effort to explore the collaboration between the two universities in the academic and non-academic fields.
The meeting took place in the Rector’s Meeting Room on the 4th floor of UNAIR Management Office. The event was attended by representatives of administration and internationalization division of TARC, Prof. Say Sok Wan, Dean of TARC Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Karthiyani, Vice-Rector I, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., K-GH., FINASIM, representative of Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) and several faculty leaders.
UNAIR Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso In his speech said that the visit conducted by TARC was in line with UNAIR’s mission in developing cooperation with universities abroad.
“UNAIR is trying to become a world-class university. Therefore, we need the role of other parties, in this case, TARC to help improve the quality of education in UNAIR such as through joint research, student exchange, staff exchange, and other programs, “said Prof. Djoko
“Collaboration with TARC is expected to realize UNAIR’s wish, to grow together to become world class universities,” he added.
Prof. Say Sok Wan as deputy head of the administration and internationalization of TARC agreed to the Vice Rector I. As one of the oldest universities in Malaysia, TARC explained that it is currently conducting collaborative programs with several universities abroad, mainly in the Asian region.
UNAIR’s reputation as one of the best universities in Indonesia is one of the reasons for TARC to collaborate with UNAIR in realizing several international cooperation programs. This is also an effort to improve the quality of both universities in academic and non-academic fields in the 4.0 industrial era.
“Universitas Airlangga is one of the institutions in Indonesia that we want to invite for collaborative programs. We want to expand student mobility, staff exchange, joint research, and much more, “explained Prof. Say Sok Wan.
“I hope that after this visit, we can discuss the details to realize the planned programs. Maybe it can be started from student activity units and then focus on academic activities, ” she concluded. (*)
