UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a student welcoming event for the SNMPTN and SBMPTN Bidikmisi Pathway in 2019 on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Garuda Mukti Hall Campus C. There were hundreds of prospective bidikmisi recipients with their parents attending the event .

On that occasion, Rector of Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT, Ak., CMA along with university leaders. Prof. Nasih said that bidikmisi students received educational assistance of Rp. 650,000 per month. The students have to managed it well.

“With Rp. 650,000 allowance per month, it is enough to live in Surabaya, as long as it’s not used carelessly, ” he said.

Prof. Nasih said that in the first year UNAIR will conduct an evaluation regarding a minimum GPA which is 1. However, if the student cannot achieve the minimum, the student status will be revoked. Furthermore, in the first two years students are required to achieve 40 credits.

“For those who can graduate after 3.5 years, UNAIR provides a fast track program to continue to master’s program directly,” he said.

Cooperation from parents is also needed. UNAIR will provide education without discrimination. The limitations of students will encourage them to fight harder.

“God’s willing, your sons and daughters will be educated naturally, without discrimination. There is a time to sow and there is time to harvest, “he added.

Meanwhile, Agung Tri Putra as Head of UNAIR Student Executive Board (BEM) said that they were the lucky students out of thousands of students, to be accepted in UNAIR. Parents should not need to worry about campus life which is different from school life. There are many places for students to actualize themselves.

“There are AUBMO, BEM UNAIR, Student Activity Unit (UKM), and many more.”

However, to be the best graduate, it is not enough to only have a high GPA, but soft skills are also important. Besides joining organizations, students must also make achievements. Our competition is global level, as World Class University.

“Please support the students. They must have good GPA, supported with organizations and make achievements,” he stated.
