UNAIR NEWS – After carrying out the ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges, and Universities) international accreditation process in March, 14 programs of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) have got premier institution status from the UK-based accreditation institution. The programs that successfully received international accreditation are 13 programs in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) and one program from Faculty of Humanities (FIB).

Regarding this proud achievement, the Head of UNAIR Quality Assurance Board (BPM) Prof. Dr. Sukardiman, Apt., M.S., said that it was from the contributions and supports from all parties especially the leadership of UNAIR management, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and Faculty of Humanities.

“This achievement is from our cooperation,” he said.

Furthermore, it was the first achievement of ASIC international accreditation. All the 14 programs got the premier institution status. The Faculty of Pharmacy professor also said that this achievement would increase UNAIR’s international accreditation.

“We already have ABEST21, ASIIN and AUN international accreditation with 37 internationally accredited programs,” he concluded.

This achievement was dedicated to the late Prof. Dr. Budi Prasetyo, M.Si, the former Vice Dean of FISIP who acted as international accreditation coordinator. His contributions and thoughts have successfully presented international accreditation to 13 programs.

“We extend our appreciation to the deceased for his extraordinary dedication. So this programs can make the best achievements, “he said.

Prof. Sukardiman also hoped the achievement is improved to enhance Ristekdikti’s ranking. So it will bring UNAIR to be the 4th largest university in Indonesia.

“Hopefully, it motivates other programs to compete in achieving international accreditation,” he added.

In the near future, there will be a submission to FIBAA accreditation for three programs, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Psychology, and Masters of Linguistics. The visitation will be held in September, and the results will be announced in November 2019. It will be the first FIBAA accreditation submitted by Indonesian institution. (*)
